Position: Architectural Intern
Reports To: Creative Design Director
The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, located in Draper, Utah, is currently seeking an Architectural Intern to play a crucial role in the planning and designing of a new Science Education Center. The mission of the Science Education Center is to provide students with opportunities for unforgettable educational experiences provided by local colleges at our beautiful facility. The Education Center may also become a permanent home for some of our exhibited animals that are part of a Species Survival Program.
Position Summary:
The Architectural Intern is responsible for observing and assisting the Education Advisory Committee (EAC), a group of relevant professionals and architects, in the planning and designing of the new Science Education Center. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: observing and learning from the EAC, completing assigned project tasks, assisting with the artistic design elements of the future building, creation of CAD files for use during the planning sessions, and active participation in all aspects of the EAC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in design process of new Science Education Center
• Attend Education Advisory Council Meetings
• Assist in preparation of CAD files for use in planning/design meetings
• Completion of all assigned projects prior to end of internship
• Complete other duties as assigned

Education:
• Completed or pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or other AutoCAD design-related program.
Critical Skills/Competencies:
• Must be able use AutoCAD as a regular function of the assigned tasks
• Must demonstrate attention to detail
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of building code a plus
Scope of position:
The Intern must commit to one shift onsite per week, including attending EAC meeting, and
10-15 hours of offsite work. The duration of the internship will be one to two semesters
(3-6 months).
Physical Demands of the Job:
• This opportunity requires long periods of sitting and computer use.
• Completed or pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or other AutoCAD design-related program.
