GIS is a non-governmental community of volunteer research analysts interested in the comparative analysis of historical and contemporary geopolitics.

AVAILABLE RESEARCH ANALYST OPENINGS:

- Middle East (+ Islamic State & Taliban influenced areas)
- East Asia
- Southeast Asia
- (Sub-Saharan) Africa
- Central Asia
- East Europe
- North Africa
- Latin America

- Frequently researches and writes about historical geopolitics, writes about current affairs, or writes about a comparison of both
- Includes an image of a strategic map within each article written
- Provides subject-matter expertise on assigned region
- Provides scholarly research, eliminating political bias or propaganda

Minimum Requirements:

- U.S. Citizen
- Working towards a degree or certificate in Homeland Security, Intelligence Studies, Foreign Area Studies, Military Studies, Cyber Warfare, Political Science, History/Anthropology, Journalism, English
- Extensive experience writing academically or professionally with minimal grammatical errors
- Comfortable writing about topics without assistance or direction
- Available for 3 months, at least 4 hours per week

Preferred, but NOT required:

- Students conversational in a critical language: Arabic, Chinese, Dari, Indonesian, Korean, Kurdish, Persian (Farsi), Pushto (Pashtu), Russian, Turkish, Urdu
- Experience creating inforgraphics or strategic maps to showcase data related to the written analysis
