Our mission is bound by a United vision; Beloved Streets of America fosters collaborations among individuals groups and organizations to generate resources to revitalize and conserve streets that bare the honorable name of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Our vision is that every street that bares his name is vibrant, beautiful and prosperous.

LOCATION:

This internship is virtual. You can work from anywhere (home, school, library, Starbucks, etc.), as long as you have reliable internet connection and a quiet area for Skype meetings.

TIMELINE:

This internship starts immediately. Expect a commitment of approximately 10 hours a week for 20 weeks; we are flexible and your internship is negotiable. We will work with you.

EQUIPMENT:

Internet connection, your own computer, Skype, and phone.

Any work that is not confidential can be added to your professional portfolio. You will work directly with the PR team and supervisors. You will also have frequent input and communications with the Founder of Beloved Streets of America and get the inside, behind-the-scenes view of a start-up, virtual company. Successful interns will receive a top-notch letter of recommendation and referrals to important business and employment contacts. In addition, we will gladly help you arrange for academic credit if you need it.

COMPENSATION:

This is an unpaid internship, but the experience is priceless!

Working at Beloved Streets of America, your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

-Spread the word about Beloved Streets of America's mission and efforts to coordinate a carefully planned process of renovating the residential and commercial areas along Dr. Martin Luther King Drive
-Promote events and programs organized by Beloved Streets of America, such as the annual walk and dinner
-Work with local organizations and news contributors to get articles written about Beloved Streets of America
-Attend Skype meetings once or twice a week (we will work with your schedule)
-Attend at least 10 Beloved Streets of America team meetings

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

You do not have to be an expert, but rather have a thirst for learning about Beloved Streets of America and growing as a Public Relations Agent. This is a learning environment so we don't expect you to know everything! Applicants with prior educational and/or work experience in PR are preferred, but WE WILL TRAIN THE RIGHT PERSON who is enthusiastic, dedicated, and willing to learn. Candidates must show an interest in all aspects of the media and be comfortable having conversations with anyone. Being able to listen is just as important as being able to speak. If you want to be a PR Agent someday, this internship will give you that experience! Students and NON-STUDENTS of any age (over 18) and those transitioning into (or building upon) a PR career are welcome to apply.
